It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Butcher, who died unexpectedly this week.
Roy Butcher joined the Clugston Group as Financial Director in 1991, and then went on to be Group CEO until 2007.
Roy was a respected leader and visionary.
Roy's impressive career began in the brewing industry, but it was his journey through finance that truly defined his professional legacy.
He served as Group Finance Director of ASD Plc, a prominent steel stockholding group, where he honed his expertise and leadership skills. His commitment to excellence extended beyond his roles at Clugston Group; he held non-executive positions at ASD Plc and Galloway (Holdings) Ltd, and was proud to serve as Non-Executive Chairman of Barrett Steel Ltd.
Roy was also committed to giving back to the community, exemplified by his role as a member of the Prince’s Trust Regional Council for Yorkshire & The Humber. His impact on the industry, along with his guidance and support, will be missed by colleagues and friends alike.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Roy’s family, friends, and everyone at Clugston Distribution Services Ltd who had the privilege of working alongside him.
