Clugston Distribution Services, the Group's logistics arm supported National Road Safety Week in conjuction with North Lindsey College, Scunthorpe.
It was held at the North Lindsey College Event Centre on 21st November as part of “Road Safety Week”, an annual event founded by Brake, the road safety charity.
Clugston displayed one of its bulk road tankers at the entrance to the college and had members of staff and apprentices on hand throughout the day to promote key aspects of road safety to students and visitors.
Alongside Clugston, there were a host of organisations also supporting the initiative, including Humber Road Safety, RoSPA Lincolnshire and CageA Cycles.
The theme for Road Safety Week 2018 is ‘Bike Smart’, a campaign focused on raising awareness about the importance of protecting cyclists and motorcyclists on our roads. Bike riders are among the most vulnerable road users in the UK, with more than 100 riders injured every day in needless, preventable crashes.
Clugston Distribution Director Tim Doggett said: “Road Safety Week is a very worthwhile annual campaign which is especially relevant to us this year as it directly relates to our work in raising safety awareness for road users on two wheels. This forms part of our ongoing commitment to continually improve road safety for all our employees and members of the public.
“This year, we are excited to take the campaign on the road, working in partnership with North Lindsey College. We are hoping the event will particularly promote road safety and awareness to a younger audience, some of whom may be learning to how to drive or ride a motorcycle, which is a pivotal time to learn about such a subject.”
