The site team working on Avonmouth ERF (Energy Recovery Facility) on the outskirts of Bristol, has passed yet another significant milestone – over 1 million man hours worked on site with no reportable accidents
The facility, jointly delivered by Clugston Construction and French process engineering partner CNIM, is being constructed for waste management specialist Viridor, one of the UK’s largest recycling and renewable energy companies.
Once operational in 2020, the new ERF at Avonmouth will generate 34MW of low carbon energy, supplying National Grid with enough electricity to power 44,000 homes.
Mark Atkinson, Clugston’s Health and Safety Manager said:
“This is one of our best performances for the number of hours worked without any first aid incidents. It significantly exceeds our company target of no more than one first aid accident for every 100,000 hours worked, our previous best being 1.7m hours worked.
“If you ask me why this has been possible, I would say that it’s all been about worker engagement, coordination and cooperation.
Our partners CNIM have also been a fantastic team and the cooperation and the coordination between our two companies has been excellent.”
